What do I Need to Know about Clear Aligners?

Clear aligners are orthodontic devices used to straighten teeth and correct misalignments.

They are a popular alternative to traditional metal braces due to their discreet appearance and convenience (you can eat what you like – just remove before eating!)

Overbites, underbite, crossbite, spacing, openbite, crowding, snaggle teeth – are all issues that clear aligners may be able to treat.

Clear aligners are custom-made just for you – did you know your teeth are unique like your fingerprints?

By using 3D digital scans of your teeth, your clear aligners are made. At Urban Smile we don’t use impression kits – these can be inaccurate and open to error if not done correctly.

You will receive and wear a series of aligner trays, each designed to move teeth incrementally.

Each set is worn for about one to two weeks before moving to the next set. This is for 20-22 hours a day. The good news is there are no dietary restrictions as you only remove them for when eating or drinking something other than water!

The aligners work by applying gentle, controlled forces to the teeth, gradually shifting them into position of where they need to go as designed by your Doctor.

There are a number of benefits to clear aligners. They are virtually invisible – so if you’re looking for a discreet option these are a great choice.

Clear aligners are said to be more comfortable as they have no wires like traditional braces. Our aligners are snug fitting and stain-resistant too.

Having no dietary restrictions (popcorn welcome!) also means clear aligners can be a more convenient choice.
